The waggie axles are quite a bit wider than the TJ axles, so you'd have to account for the extra width. Meaning the TJ steering setup won't fit. If you get the axles from a 1980-1990 the front axle is a drivers side drop. The one thing about the Waggy axles is that the bolt pattern is 6x5.5 instead of 5x4.5 or 5x5.5.
WebMay 13, 2024 · For 35" tires max size someone having a Dana 30 has no reason to upgrade to a Dana 44 (besides 5.38 gears). The only "Jeep" front axle replacement that would be worth it, is a free/very cheap HP Dana 30 (later XJs). Dana 44 over Dana 30 isn't stronger for 35" tires or lower, but has a bit less clearance as well (because of the bigger "pumpkin").
