WebJun 6, 2024 · The main purposes are to: relieve the buyer from the burden of funding VAT on the purchase, helping businesses by improving their cash flow and avoiding the need to separately value assets which may be liable at different rates or are exempt and which have been sold as a whole WebHowever, the sale of assets as part of a business which is a ‘going concern’ (TOGC) will be treated as outside the scope of VAT provided certain conditions are met. In other words, the TOGC is not a supply for VAT purposes. This treatment is mandatory so if the conditions are met, no VAT must be charged on the transfer.
