Approximate duration – 90 minutes (our youngest was 4 years old when we did this walk so you might be faster) Distance – 1.5 miles. Accessibility – This is an uphill walk, rocky in many places. This walk is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Web24 lug 2024 · A short walk uphill and you have your first glimpse of Low Dam. Finsthwaite Tarn was made into the higher and lower dams to power a 32 feet water wheel at the bobbin mill which at one time employed as many as 250 workers. Carry on up the path to High Dam. The tarn is surrounded with Larches, Scots Pines, Oak and Birch trees.
